1. Around 70% of the hair on your head goes into a kind of sleep phase or telogen phase of its growth cycle. After some time hair starts falling rapidly and takes a lot of time to grow back. Telogen effluvium occurs due to trauma of any kind, an accident, sudden weight loss or gain and pregnancy leading to stress. Stress and hair loss is but evident, just that we tend to ignore this fact.
2. Alopecia Areata: This type of hair loss is more severe and less common than telogen effluvium. If a person has been suffering from depression or has gone through a major stressful period in life way before the hair loss has been noticed, then alopecia areata can be the condition he is associated with. In this case, you will notice hair falling out in patches and refusing to grow back. In some cases hair does re-grow but most often the person remains bald.
Cut the stress out
- Stress and hair loss seems to be a modern day phenomenon. But it has been around since time immemorial. You can definitely find a solution to this by cutting out on the levels of your stress and relaxing.
- Rogaine, Propecia, Nioxin and other medications that inhibit the conversion of testosterone to DHT are effective remedies to hair loss caused by stress. Consult your doctor and get the right treatment for your stress and hair loss.
- Getting stressed out is unavoidable. The point is, how well do we deal with it? Stress and anxiety can be reduced by ignoring the issues we can afford to keep aside. Let not small things get to you.
- Try and have a good time whenever you can. Laughter is the best medicine for stress and hair loss. While you are busy enjoying yourself, you will notice how easy it gets to lighten up your heart and mind and remain stress-free. This will improve the condition of your hair visibly.
Increase your physical activity, relax more often, get plenty of sleep and maintain a well balanced diet to see the change in the way your hair looks and feels. Stress and hair loss can be countered by supplementing the body with enough sleep and rest.
