One of the most common grumble that I hear from beginner Internet advertisers is that they
One of the solutions ordinarily given is to suggest that they stop griping, and start creating a list. Some people will be a tad more helpful and suggest that they join one of the free list-building giveaways as a place to begin.
Certainly, that brings us to the question "are these
list-building giveaways worth the trouble?"
Do they really work?
Do they generate quality subscribers?
If you are wondering, I do submit free products in several marketing giveaway events.
Well, you need to understand that adding a gift in a free giveaways is just the first step in a long relationship-building process. Far too many folks blow it right from the get go. They submit a free "gift" in these events that they'd be insulted if someone gave to them.
Anything you list in one of these marketing giveaways needs to be something good enough that you COULD sell it if you wanted to.
The next thing to look at is the reputation of the giveaway itself.
You need to join events where the quality of the gifts offered is monitored.
You do not want to be associated with a lame giveaway that seems lame or amateurish.
You also need to ensure that the organizer of the giveaway require contributors to all promote the event. Those who are discovered not promoting the event could be removed from the database of those eligible to get subscribers fairly early in the giveaway's timeline.
I've been involved with tons of free giveaways where many of contributors merely gave an outdated product and then didn't do any promotion. They planned on getting a free ride.
Contributing in free
marketing giveaway events can boost your list-building. I know many internet marketers who've made lists into the thousands... and even tens of thousands with much of their early list members being from free giveaways.
It does work. It can help you build a targeted, profitable list if you offer the correct gifts, and if you select quality giveaways. If you join the wrong ones, submit JUNK, and then wait for other people to do all of the work, you will be in for a big let-down.
