With a massive line up for Summer 2009 now is the time to book your place at one of the major concerts of the year. The following article looks at a selection of gigs kicking off this summer Live at the Marquee.

The Prodigy – 18th June 2009

The face of rave ‘The Prodigy’, will play live at the Marquee this June on Thursday 18th at 8pm sharp. The Prodigy are a popular electronic music group from Essex in London and have had major success with hits like ‘Outer Space' ‘Everybody In the Place', ‘Charley Says' and ‘Firestarter' to name a few. Selling over 17 million albums in the past The Prodigy have covered various styles of music ranging from hardcore, industrial, rave, breakbeat, electronic rock and punk.


Shane Ward – 19th June 2009

The no stranger to Ireland and X Factor winner Shane Ward will take to the stage this summer on Friday 19th June. Rocketing to fame after winning the 2005 X Factor, Shane has enjoyed huge success with hits like ‘No Promises’ and ‘That’s my Goal’, he has also supported Westlife on many occasions and continues to grow in the music industry. This is a show not to miss.

Tracy Chapman – 22nd June 2009

Tracy Chapman is an American singer-songwriter and best know for her popular hits like ‘Fast Car’, ‘Talking about a Revolution’, ‘Baby Can I Hold You’, ‘Give Me One Reason’, ‘The Promise’ and ‘Telling Stories’. Tracy Chapman is a multi-platinum and four-time Grammy Award-winning artist.


Bell X1 – 26th June 2009

Our very own rock band Bell X1 from County Kildare take centre stage live at the Marquee on Friday 26th June. Bell X1 has deservedly gained major success in Ireland, The UK and United States. Popular TV shows like as ‘The O.C.’ and ‘Grey's Anatomy’ have featured some of the band tunes on their show increasing popularity. Bell X1 current album, ‘Blue Lights on the Runway’ has like previous albums, proved a huge success and Bell X1 remains as popular as ever.

Christy Moore – 27th June 2009

Irish singing legend that needs no introduction ‘Christy Moore’ will take to the stage live at The Marquee on Saturday 27th June. The popular singer-songwriter and guitarist is one of Ireland’s best and loved musicians who has over the years captured the hearts of many in Ireland and beyond. With an endless list of hits such as ‘Don’t forget your shovel’, ‘Ordinary Man’, ‘Black is the Colour’, ‘Sonny’s Dream’ and ‘The Voyage’ to name a few, his latest album ‘Listen’ is no different.

Lady Gaga – 1st July 2009

Shooting to number one with hits like ‘Let’s Dance’ and ‘Poker Face’ Lady Gaga is an upcoming American theatrical musician, performance artist and dancer. She started her career as a songwriter for popular artists like Britney Spears, New Kids on the Block and The Pussycat Dolls and has excelled in her own fame since 2008.
