The Mark 1L is a light, shoulder fired 6-shot grenade launcher with extended 140mm chambers as against the standard 105mm chambers of the Mark 1S. The additional 35mm chamber area in this third generation launcher allows this gun to launch an extended variety of ammunition for different applications. The maximum effective range of the MGL Mark 1L is 375 metres and its rounds can be fired in quick succession of six rounds in under 3 seconds.
The MGL Mark one L is ideally designed for use by armed forces where its extraordinary versatility can be employed in a live combat or peacekeeping environment. Nearly all explosive 40mm ammo possesses fuses which arm only when the grenade has safely cleared the operator, (a distance of 15-31m, though some versions were produced with only 7m clearance for house-to-house combat) preventing unwanted 'accidents'. This feature can be changed however,, (still, be careful not to screw up.
