Have you ever mused about why manufacturers sell their gleaming, space age looking printers so reasonably? I'll tell you why. The true cash is in the sale of their brand name ink cartridges.
Do you know that these companies pull sort of a fast one on you? Yup...those seemingly "on the house cartridges" that come with your new printer are only partly filled. You are given a taste of what its like to use the new printer and then suddenly you run out of ink.
So what's your primary inclination? It's to go buy the same name brand ink cartridge. Nevertheless, one look at the cost and you are ready to buy a cheap ink cartridge ASAP!
So are cheap ink cartridges worth it? A most important case used against buying cheap ink is that over time it will ruin your printer. You know what my response to that is? Don't be bothered by it.
I've been using generic ink cartridges in my printer for years without it damaging my printer. But even if they had, I would just turn right around and buy another printer. They are affordable if you buy them new but here's what I do, I buy printers at garage sales. I see Hewlett Packard printers and Dell printers all over the place. I've never paid more than $4.00 for one.
When I ask the seller why they're getting rid of the printer they usually say, "Oh I just bought a new computer and I got a free printer with it. There's nothing wrong with this one, I just want to get rid of it."
So in my opinion buy cheap ink cartridges until the cows come home. Are they worth it? You bet they are. I pay around $11.00 for a generic black and white ink cartridge. A name brand would cost me at least $8 to $10 more.
You know what? For merchandise I have to purchase on an on going basis, I'm going to look for value.
In my opinion buying cheap ink for your ink jet printer is a no brainer.
