Being pregnant can be one of the most exciting and joyful times of your life but it can also be one of the scariest. For first time mums (and even mums having their second or third child) it can seem like a journey into the unknown and that journey comes with a lot of side effects, some of which can be quite uncomfortable. Many women know they are pregnant well before they take a test as there are a number of common symptoms associated with pregnancy. Below we take a look at these symptoms and offer some remedies to make your pregnancy a more comfortable time.

Fatigue

Many people with hectic lifestyles may find that they often feel fatigued but usually it can be treated with a few early nights and some rescheduling of busy diaries. During the first few weeks of pregnancy though feeling fatigued can be a daily occurrence as your body works on overdrive to get ready for your baby’s development. Fatigue can be alleviated though and if it’s wearing you down then try to make getting rest a priority and include early nights and regular naps in your routine. Check that you are getting enough vitamins and minerals and make sure you include a few exercise sessions in your weekly routine to keep your body in top condition.

Sore breasts

Sore breasts can make everything from walking to sleeping uncomfortable during the first weeks of pregnancy but it simply means your body is getting ready to breastfeed your baby. Treat yourself to a new bra, preferably one which you have been measured for so you can avoid ill fitting straps sticking into your skin. You may also notice your breasts start to get bigger throughout your pregnancy and you could try a maternity bra to offer you full support throughout the day. You could also invest in a maternity night time bra to sleep in which will be softer and less restrictive than day to day bras.

Morning sickness

Morning sickness varies greatly from woman to woman – some women experience no nausea at all whereas others can be very ill throughout the day. Many women will try anything as a morning sickness remedy and common choices include ginger tea or ginger in food, eating dry crackers, avoiding strong odours and getting plenty of rest. If you want to try a new cure for morning sickness then try the iced soothies from Lillipops. These delicious iced soothies have been designed especially for pregnant women to alleviate the symptoms of morning sickness including nausea, heart burn and a dry mouth.

Altered sense of taste

A change in your taste buds can lead to morning sickness as foods you once loved may now turn your stomach. You could also experience a metallic taste in your mouth or have crazy cravings for random foods. It’s best to go with the flow when it comes to food and provided it’s safe to do so and you are following a healthy, balanced diet you can occasionally indulge in the foods you fancy. A natural morning sickness remedy such as Lillipops will help to calm your stomach if you are feeling sick or if you are craving iced lollies.
