Of the many opportunities to learn Spanish at a dedicated school in Spain, there can be few better than the possibility of learning the language while by the sea. Spain is a country that lives and breathes the beach, and you won’t be able to go far wrong when choosing a Spanish language course in one of the following cities…

Barcelona

In a way, it’s easy to forget that Barcelona is on the coast: There’s so much inner-city excitement here, it’s possible to lose oneself in the myriad of art galleries and surrealist architecture to be found in Barcelona’s inland barrios and never even catch sight of the sea.

And then you take a walk down the iconic Las Ramblas, and the Barcelona Port and Barceloneta beach come into view, and your stay in the city studying at one of the language courses Barcelona offers gets even better. The Port itself is a glitzy affair surrounded by big-name shops and sweeping modern architecture, while the beach is a manmade effort that offers seaside spots perfect for that hour of extra revision (or sleep, as the case may be).

Alicante

Relaxed Alicante is perfect for the student who fancies learning in a seaside city that’s large and fun without being so massive and busy that it evades all attempts of familiarity. The Old Town here is a great place to ramble around, while the Castle that looms over the beach offers an excellent quiet place in which to study outside of class hours.

Santander

Santander is another small place where the beach seems to resonate through everyday life. There are many language schools here, and every year people chose Santander over, say Barcelona or Madrid, precisely because its beaches are so good (and its food so tasty).

Seville

Seville is not quite on the Spanish coast, but taking one of the language courses Sevilla offers, is tantamount to studying by the beach. Not only is this a baking hot part of Spain, but the seaside is only a short train ride away (60kms or so). As a result, students at schools in Seville often use their free weekends to travel southwards and lap up the beautiful Andalusian coastline.
