There is no doubt that LCD screens and LCD touch screens are the future for screens. LCD display monitors are also more and more common in the every day life and you can now have custom display solutions to go along whatever you want or industrial LCD monitors for people working outdoors. Those products even use more compact components than before making them better and better.
You may wonder sometimes why they make those huge LCD screens when the components inside are so small. But it does not seem to be the case with LCD touch screens, and especially industrial touch screens.
Since people needing LCD touch screens want them to be tough as they are very often used a lot and can be used outdoor as well, the components inside need to perform much better than some of the LCD screens you can buy today.
One example of component getting more and more compact is the touch controller. Being vital for the industrial touch screen, a controller still need to perform well and be as compact as possible. It needs to support a wide range of operating systems and be able to withstand harsh environmental conditions since it is often going to be used outdoors or at least very often if the LCD touch screen is in places like a train station or the reception hall of a building.
Some components are even specifically designed to be used in industrial LCD displays like TFT LCD touch screens, TFT actually meaning thin film transistor. They are designed to be as tough and compact as possible but still very powerful. The same applies for industrial TFT panels that need to perform well enough so people can see what is displayed on it but also compact enough to be used everywhere. You can even now get industrial TFT panels that are integrated with an anti reflecting coating to make them more usable outdoor. Even tough it often means a more expensive product, the fact that it does not reflect light as a normal LCD panel would, making it easier to for people to see what is being displayed.
You may wonder though what the difference between an LCD screen and a TFT screen is.
Well, a TFT screen is providing a much better quality of image than with LCD screens. If you do not need a great image quality to display a message or show something, a simple industrial LCD monitor might just do the job and be enough. It could even cost less.
