I'm sure that most of us are aware that the most common molecule on earth is water. Water comprises about 75% of the Earths surface and is essential to life.

Water itself is a combination of Oxygen and Hydrogen (H2O), Hydrigen being the most common element in the universe and Oxygen being the third most common element in the universe. So it will come as no surprise that water makes up between 55% and 78% of the human body. The highest figure usually relating to new-born babies, and the lower to an adult male.

OK, lesson over, but I just wanted to try to get across the absolute necessity of water in our daily lives. So how does this relate to yeast infections? Well, one of the main reasons that we suffer with these (and it is a fact that 75% of people will get at least one yeast infection during the course of a lifetime) is dehydration.

The majority of people reading this article will be dehydrated. You won't realise it, and you probably don't feel thirsty. The reason for that is that although water in sufficient quantity is so essential to our wellbeing, thirst is a very poor indicator. By the time we feel thirsty we are already mildly dehydrated.

Dehydration can cause many problems as well as yeast infections. The key to getting rid of your infection, and stopping it returning, is to rehydrate your body fully and keep it hydrated. You are probably thinking that you drink plenty of fluids during the course of the day and you don't need to drink more. However, if you were to make a note of the fluids that you are drinking I'm willing to bet that very little of that is water.

You are probably, like most of us, drinking coffee, tea, juices, soda, and various sugary drinks. Tea and coffee will actually dehydrate you, and the sugar in juices and soda will just feed your yeast infection making it worse.

Plain, ordinary tap water is fine. OK, depending upon where you live and what treatment is given to your local water you may not like the taste, although pure natural water has no taste. But water is treated to make it safe. It's absolutely fine as I say, however if you really have a problem with it just buy natural mineral water in bottles. It's cheap enough.

So how much water should you drink each day to keep properly hydrated? As a general guide your water intake should be half your body weight converted to ounces daily. For example if you weigh 140 pounds you should drink 70 ounces of water every day. That's only just under 4½ pints. Now thats not such a chore is it? Especially when it's curing your yeast infection.

To do the job properly you should also consider adding just a pinch of salt to the glass of water. You will probably not even notice it and it will help the body to retain the water long enough for it to do its job. This is just a question of body balance. If you think about it if we suffer some sort of body trauma the first thing the medics will do is hook us up to a saline drip.

A properly hydrated body is a body in balance and a body that is much more capable of fighting off the yeast infection and stopping it from recurring. This is such a simple, inexpensive thing to do, just try it for a week or two. I'm sure you will be happy with the results and continue to drink water as we should.

Not only will your yeast infection be a thing of the past, you will feel better, with more energy, and your skin will feel and look younger. I hope I've convinced you, the sooner you start, the sooner you will feel the benefits.
