Dieting is often confused with eating less for getting thin. However this is not true at all. Dieting is done for losing as well as gaining weight. Some professions like modeling requires a person to lose extra fat while some professions like wrestling requires a wrestler to gain weight. Dieting can help in achieving both the result. Another aspect of dieting is to stay fit. For example a growing child needs proper diet in order to stay fit and healthy and to keep the growth momentum going. Similarly a person above 60 years of age also needs to take proper diet to maintain the necessary functions of the body. In old age, immunity of the body decreases so it becomes even more necessary to take proper diet.


Normally girls assume that dieting means less eating to achieve zero size figure. Studies have also shown that females are more conscious of their body weight compared to males. However starving yourself can backfire and result in health problems. Not taking proper diet according to personal requirement can lead to bad eating habits like over eating.



You can lose weight fast by combining proper diet with proper physical exercise. Similarly, for muscle building you have to combine heavy physical exercise with proper diet. The simple formula behind weight lose is that body should spend more energy than it is getting. So that body consumes extra fat available to get some amount of energy. With extra fat gone body becomes slim and fit than ever before.


Dieting should be slow and steady. Sudden dieting can have harmful effect on your body, it can change normal working of the body which may result some abnormalities. There are also drugs available that reduce the urge to eat more food but theses are temporary measures and can result in serious health problems in the future.



You have to understand that improper dieting can also result in malnutrition. Always plan your diet based on you physical requirements. Malnutrition not only damages you body but also your mind. Brain uses glucose for energy and if you are eating food with no or very little calorie than its effects can be dangerous.


Lack of proper diet can cause lot of physical and mental problems like depression, lack of interest in sex, feeling of exhaustion and excessive hunger. So be careful and plan in advance to get positive result from dieting.
