Miscarriage is generally a process and not a event. There are different Types of Miscarriage.

There is a lot of information to get educated about fetal development so that you may gain a good idea of what is going on with your pregnancy.

Generally all forms of Miscarriage are termed as Miscarriage, but you can observe your health care provider referring to other terms or names of miscarriage like:

Threatened Miscarriage: Some degree of early pregnancy uterine bleeding accompanied by cramping or lower backache. The cervix remains closed. This form of bleeding is often result of implantation.


Inevitable or Incomplete Miscarriage: Back pain or Abdominal pain followed by bleeding with open cervix. Miscarriage is impossible to avoid when there is a dilation or effacement of the cervix or there is rupture of the membranes. Cramps and bleeding may carry on if the miscarriage is not complete.

Complete Miscarriage: A complete Miscarriage is when the embryo or products of conception have dried out of the uterus. Bleeding should subside quickly, as should any pain. A complete miscarriage is confirmed by ultrasound.

Missed Miscarriage: Women can experience a Miscarriage without knowing it. Miscarriage is when embryonic death has occurred but there is not any expulsion of the embryo. It is not known why it occurs. Signs of this would be a loss of Pregnancy Symptoms and the absence of fetal heart tones found on an ultrasound.
