In part one of this article series I discussed the best audio recording
programs, audio editing software and how you should organize your audio
recordings to make the best possible product. Today I’ll discuss MP3’s
and adding music...
Now, if you’re going to create it as an MP3, add foreground and
background music to it. Elevate the volume at the beginning of the
recording and have it slowly fade until the music gets really soft and
then have your voice come in. At the end do the opposite, have the music
come on softly and then get louder towards the end. That’s what I’m
talking about with foreground and background music.
Make sure the music you use is royalty-free because if it’s not that
could get you in a lot of trouble. Where can you find that stuff? There
are many places on the net to find very inexpensive royalty-free music,
just Google it.
If you do the recording and you decide you want to turn it into an
ebook, get it transcribed by someone on Elance. Now because spoken
language tends to be different than written language you’re also going
to have to edit the transcript. I personally like it to have a
conversational flow to it. Next, add a book cover to it. Then you want
to save it, not as a Word document, but a PDF document. What can you use
for a PDF document? Well, you could use a thing called PDF995, possibly
the newest version of Word or you can use Open Office. In Open Office
there’s a thing called Open Office Writer where you can choose the
option of “Save as PDF.” However, before you save it you may also want
to consider adding some bounce-backs down at the bottom if it’s a
digital product. What I’m talking about is having a link down there
where people can get some free gifts. That’s just in case somebody that
gets it gives it to their friend or hands it to somebody else.
So many people are like, “Oh, well, what happens if somebody gives my
ebook to another person?” Well, that’s something that’s going to happen,
so don’t play the scarcity mindset. Think from a bonus perspective and
say, “Oh, well, if they give it to them, at least I’m going to get them
to bounce back to me.” The other thing is, if you ever bought a book at
the bookstore and you say, “Oh, this is a great book,” and then you go
and give that book to a friend, that’s the same exact thing that
somebody does if they just send it to a friend to look at. So don’t get
all caught up in that nonsense.
If you want to create a video capture, you should consider a program
that I’m actually using right now – which is called Jing Project by
TechSmith. You can also use Camtasia or even Snaptoit which is also
pretty cool.
For graphics, book/CD covers and images to add to your digital products
and sales letters, a great place to go is MaxCovers.com. He does great
work and the cost is also very reasonable.
