Daniel R. Butler's career is based on a background in trading (foreign exchange, commodity futures and emerging market equities), and some recent consulting in the acquisition of Serbian Savings Bonds as well as seeking distressed debt of Serbia, Czech Republic and Argentina.
Currently working for Blackstone Global Ventures, a.s., a Carbon asset manager and emissions trading company marketing the Blackstone Carbon Pool and the new product designed with the managing director of BGV, the JI Focus Fund. Both of these products create or originate, new credits that are used by nations and companies that have caps on their emissions. These credits are purchased by nations and companies so that they can meet their emission targets.
Previously created one of Eastern Europe's most active EUA (European Union Allowance) trading desks at the active Czech Stock Broker, Atlantik Financni Trhy (Atlantik Financial Markets). At Atlantik transacted EUA deals in a service that offered regional corporate clients the access to the professional Emissions Trading Scheme in Europe. It would be fair to say that the Atlantik desk was the most active "non-compliance" trader in Eastern Europe.
The European Union Emissions Trading Scheme is a way of pricing the cost of harmful greenhouse gases. It allows the market place to price something that would normally be the role of governmental bodies and by this way ensuring a more realistic value, free from state lobbying, vested interests and the unrealistic demands of environmental groups.
