According to Bhaskar, if elected to the NASSCOM EC, he will work with other members to define the right strategies that will maximise NASSCOM’s impact in this new era. His aim will be to help NASSCOM build stronger alignment with the government, both at the centre and state levels on policies that accelerate growth in the local IT industry. He will also like to partner with industry associations like CII and others to drive deeper adoption of IT to kick-start growth.

Bhaskar is keen to collaborate with other EC members to build stronger connects in other markets across the world. Finally, to create a lasting impact in India, Bhaskar says he will drive deeper engagement with NGOs and the government on the right programmes and schemes that deliver socio-economic benefits to over a billion Indians.

In Bhaskar’s view, the key agenda for the NASSCOM EC should be to get to the next USD 100 billion in a faster and stronger fashion. As we transition to a new era of connected devices and continuous Cloud services, it is critical for the NASSCOM EC to focus on areas that can amplify the Indian IT industry’s impact in these domain across established IT majors and startups, on premise software vendors and Cloud service providers, domestic and multinational OEM and ODMs, he says. The EC’s focus, Bhaskar adds, should also be on kick starting the growth of the Indian economy through IT. The aim should be to use IT to create an impact in areas such as education and employability, transparency and e-governance and cyber security and IP protection.

Regarding what NASSCOM needs to do for SMEs, Bhaskar states that the EC must work to support SMEs in three areas—leadership and talent development, and access to capital and technology. He believes that NASSCOM, in partnership with key stakeholders in the government, education, financial institutions and the industry, can make a significant, positive impact and accelerate the growth of these players.
