We have now added feedburner feeds for all our categories - feedburner is great as it allows for much reduced loads on our servers and better reporting features and feed features.

The load issues last year meant we suspended the update cron on our main category feeds. These are running again and can be seen at Article Alley Category Feeds authors feeds created a much lower load and so have always been running.

Bookmarks

Addthis.com has a great list of bookmark sites - the above screen shot shows just how many are now only one click away from every article page on articlealley - authors are really missing out on the full potential benefits of submitting articles through articlealley if they don’t make full use of this great feature

Articlealley on Saurotag

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Just found Articlealley on Saurotage this is another “create a web page on the fly” type site - surprisingly these seem to be doing well on Google at the moment - I guess there are many source files for such as quantcast showing the top 1million sites by traffic.

Anyways there seems to be no harm in links like this

Startups

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Article alley on Killerstartups was recently featured on this startup site, as some of our regulars know we are a venture capital backed business and its encouraging to see that news of our success has reached the internet from this angle!

I am glad we got funded back in 2004 as i am sure the current climate is very challenging for new internet ventures in particular.

Bookmarking

Bookmarks

Our new addthis.com has a great stats package which shows the split between the most popular social bookmark sites, not surprisingly Digg, facebook and Google are the most common reflecting the fact that they are the largest players. Technorati, furl and myspace are important also.

If you want to improve the performance of your articles on the search engines then bookmarking them will give you a boost - its always worth working through your historic article submissions and ensuring they are bookmarked.

The benefits are noticeable. I also personally like folkd.com this is not currently available via addthis.com but it seems to figure a lot in the search results I see - so I bookmark daily myself using their service.

Page views are back

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

We had to suspense counting page views in late 2007 due to the excess load on the then server, but thanks to the skills of our in house coder they are back today and counting up once again. The most viewed and authors pages will update weekly, but this tweak is yet to be implemented, we are testing this week with a view to fully restoring the feature from next week.

Page views were really popular with our authors and we got a huge number of requests to restore them once suspended.

Also more features will go live next week, but we will keep you posted as and when they are ready.
