Review sites

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

A trend we are seeing more and more of are website analysis sites - these spider your website on the fly - merge in alexa and Quantcast data plus WHOIS and bang a webpage is built about your site.

Its a way of getting information and some link popularity but I am not sure how valuable links like this will turn out to be.

All the same here is one I found today ArticleAlley on dataopedia.

Shvoong it!

Shvoong

Came across a post on Shvoong by an ArticleAlley author, its a type of social review site, a little like hubpages or Squidoo, a good feature is that advertising is revenue shared with authors - something we are thinking about here at AA. You can see Article Alley on Shvoong here

The site seems pretty strong and has a large base of authors supporting it.

Their about us page describes them as:-

Shvoong’ is a world-wide center for abstracts, offering a wide variety of abstracts in 34 different languages. Our goal is to summarize all that has been written throughout human history in the areas of literature and scientific research, thus providing you the essence of human knowledge.

So not short of ambition then!

Article Alley on Facebook

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Finally got around to updating our facebook entry - Article Alleys Facebook entry is automatically updated using our own RSS feed. Its a great idea - as every author on Article Alley has their own feed and many have a facebook account.

Facebook is hugely popular at the moment, its got to be a good idea to promote articles in this way also.

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Seometer

Found Seometer today a Google Cache Rate checker this site monitors the frequency of Google cache changes and ranks sites accordingly, our site not unsurprisingly ranks within the top 200 sites and is number #1 in the writing category

Add this

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Another new feature going live today is our add this feature, its a way to social bookmark an article with several bookmarking sites at the same time.

Add this

Our previous social bookmarking feature was popular but doesn’t offer the same ease of use and benefits as the Addthis feature.

The AddThis button spreads your content across the Web by making it easier for your visitors to bookmark and share it with other people, again… and again… and again.

Submit Articles

Monday, January 19th, 2009

For a while now we have not targeted many phrases in the article marketing arena such as “Submit Articles” or Article Syndication, but we have decided to learn from our ommissions and launch a campaign of our own.

Our first entry is a page to target the phrase Submit Articles we have created a page and named it the same and written fairly focussed text on the subject. This page also went live today and it will be interesting to track and see how it performs. Competition for this phrase is pretty tough with around 27million results.

We will keep you up to date with our progress and keep submitting!

Syndication feature

Monday, January 19th, 2009

The first of our new features has gone live today - now every article is easier than ever to syndicate. Each article page now has a supporting syndication page which allows webmasters to easily cut and paste the contents of a page to their sites.

For example:-
http://www.articlealley.com/article_755270_23.html
is supported by http://www.articlealley.com/ezine_755270_23.html

Just follow the orange link on each article, we have had a lot of scraper activity recently and this feature should cut this down. Also the easier it is for users to re-use content the more exposure and benefits there are for authors.

Quantcast Demographics

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

ArticleAlley quancast demographics can be found here

Quantcast

Our site appeals to those on slightly lower incomes and more to females than males, its hard to validate these stats - but our feeling is they are probably correct.

Travel articles

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

One of the most popular travel authors in our database is Naveen Marasinghe Articles who has 727 articles live, Naveen posts as many as 7 or 8 articles per day, and gets several 1,000 page views per month, it goes to show that the more articles you post within our directory the more exposure your content gets, and thats before exposure via our network and partners.

All Naveens articles can be seen using our article summary page every author has one, but its currently an underused feature on our site.  To view your own summary page select the author id from the url of your profile page and subsitute it for the number in this url http://www.articlealley.com/our_authors_articles_97921.html
