Traffic steadily upwards

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Alexa the popular search engine and stats sites, has some good graphs.  The following shows the reach or the relative number of visitor for every sample of search enquiries.  What is clear from the graph is that our

traffic levels are on a pretty much steady upwards trend.  This is really great news all around as it means more exposure for Article Alley and more traffic and visitors for our authors work and their websites.

Alexa likes Article Alley

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Alexa the popular search engine and stats site continues to like Article Alley!  Our rankings are now the best ever, we are amongst the top 5,547 sites in the World.  Thats some going.

A big thanks as always to our loyal base of authors and regular users.  We continue to progress this year, and in a couple of months our new site will be going live.  This will have lots of great features which should greatly boost our progress and traffic further.

What I like about Alexa is that you can track your performace relative to your competitors.  Its not perfect by any means but it does give you an idea of how you are doing relative to other similar websites.

Article Alley has long been the top UK article website, but now we are in the top few places in both the USA and worldwide.  Our aim is to get back to the top three position and increase our traffic accordingly.

Keep visiting our blog for all the latest news and articles from Article Alley!

Alexa onwards and upwards

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Alexa the popular search engine and web statistics site continues to show us making good progress throughout June 2009. Alexa is great to compare your website to others, its absolute traffic levels are

not that accurate, because without access to your website logs its not possible to know.

What Alexa does is use the experience of several million users of its toolbar, that way it can track the pattern of these users and extrapolate that out to the complete internet, the flaw with this approach is that it magnifies the user who use Alexa, which are more SEO folk etc.

All the same its pleasing to see our traffic steadily rising. You have to be careful not to get addicted to sites like these! Otherwise you can spend all your time looking for evidence of the progress of your online marketing strategy, rather than actually getting on with it!

As long as you check Alexa just from time to time its fine, or use it to check out your competition, remember its easy to fake high Alexa traffic levels, but why would you manipulate the appearance of low traffic levels?

A lot of web users slate Alexa, but I think its fine and also a bit of fun at the same time.

Compete April 2009

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Compete April 2009Compete the popular web traffic comparision site has updated with April 2009 data, we are pleased to see that our traffic continues to growth, albeit at a slower pace than in recent months.

Compete is useful in that it shows your performance relative to your competitors, as with all 3rd party tools though it uses a sample of data from its sources and extrapolates results.

All the same its encouraging that the trend continues on an upward direction, it certainly compares well with the data we get from Google Analytics, which is our own site based tool which has access to the real site traffic.

Our competitiors appear to be experiencing similar growth rates, some we are ahead of others we are still lagging.  Rest assured we continue to market Article Alley night and day to get the best traffic and exposure for our authors and their work.

We are committed to getting Article Alley back to the very top performing site in the Article Marketing niche.

Traffic milestone

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Yesterday was one of our busiest days for traffic in more than 18 months, we received just over 127,000 unique visitors, which is very good for a Friday. The last time traffic was at this level the fall of 2007.

Its taken until now to recover the lost ground but it goes to show that our new features and the hard work of our authors is really paying off.

Thanks to all.

Top continents

Article Alley is a worldwide site that attracts authors and visitors from all around the globe, the above graph comes from our addthis bookmarking tool - it shows popularity of bookmarking by using a graded colour code. The hotter or more red the greater the activity - what it shows is that the whole world is using Article Alley but its more popular in English speaking countries - makes sense as 99% of our content is currently in English.

Compete.com

Third party results are a useful benchmark as we can track how our traffic is growing compared to our competitors. Every year since launch we have managed a compound increase in traffic of over 100%, we are hoping that 2009 will see a continuation of this trend.

A lot of new features are under development and next year will be exciting for our Authors and our Team.
