We are pleased to announce that we have signed a partnership deal with 5min.com, later this month, visitors will be able to watch their vidoes running across nearly 1,300,000 pages on our network.

5min.com attracts a large audience of millions of monthly visitors, distribution and monetization of these videos is the Company’s primary focus. 5min offers a one-stop solution for online video: providing a rich, segmented offering of tens of thousands of videos; empowering websites to integrate videos throughout their sites with just hours of work; and creating incremental revenue, traffic and engagement

We feel that adding 5min’s content to our article pages will provide even more useful information to assist our visitors.

Legal Videos

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Our legal video section is proving as popular as our legal article one. I spent a good few hours watching legal videos today - the quality is really high, which is great news for our visitors.

Here are a few I liked:-

You Deserve a tax holiday You deserve a TAX HOLIDAY and an end to assessment of federal income taxes. The immediate effect of this Tax Holiday will be to leave more money in your pocket. You’ll take more money home with every paycheck.

Who screens the screeners Its a good question.

Texas Workers Compensation Lawyers Texas Worker’s Compensation entitles you to workers comp medical and income benefits if you have been injured on your job.

Lemon Law All about the law surrounding lemons, not the fruit variety!

An Introduction to the Patent System This one is really interesting showing jurors about patent law.

Its surprising just how many law firms are using youtube to promote their firms, but with sites like Article Alley using more and more of this type of content you can see why.

Videos catching on

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Videos are now in place for more than 150,000 articles, whilst this feature is proving to be very popular and successful already, we are however having issues with the relationship between articles and videos and in particular their relevance.

For example an article about Hilton hotels was showing a video about Paris Hilton the actress, and another about spilling the beans on emarketing success, and you might have guessed already, a video on the preparation and cooking of beans, which happened to spill out of the pan.

We are working hard to find ways to better cross reference these two databases, meanwhile if there are any funnies please give us the benefit of the doubt!

This will probably only be fixed once more video networks are integrated in, allowing our system to cherry pick the most strongly related video rather than the default selection supplied.

Video preview

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Our video feature is due to go live tommorrow - we will gradually roll out the new feature during the rest of February and March - we have nearly 500,000 video pages to add - so it will be quite a change for Article Alley by the end of the roll out we will have a related video for approx 60% of our articles.  Not to mention the load on the server array caused by indexing the cross relationship between 750,000 articles and 500,000 videos!

Its early days for us at the moment and we are working on improving the quality of the relationship between articles and videos - please bear with us if some unpredicted matchs pop up.

To get an idea of what to expect check out videos on article alley

There is still a lot of work for us to do in developing this area, but for us its a real step forward.

Tags and videos

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

We are now working on our most exciting new features for 2009, - tags for every article and related videos. Our test site is working well and we are hoping that these features will both be live during Feb 2009.

Tags will give us a much broader extension to our categories and videos are the way forward particular with the advent of universal search and Google’s aquisition of youtube.

Hopefully at least one of these features will be up and live next week - for now fingers crossed!
