So often we take our feet for granted as they carry us around each and every day. We pamper our hair and faces but tend not to give our feet a second thought. Until the time arrives when we get a remainder in the form of aching arches or even a more serous foot condition. Taking care of our feet with a regular pedicure will add more than pep to your step; it will also keep some of those unhealthy foot conditions at bay.

First you have to prepare your feet for the treatment you are about to give them. Fill your bathtub or a bucket with warm water and your favorite foam bath and soak your feet in there for at least 15-20 minutes. You can also add some bath salts or the desired amount of foot soak into the water and let them dissolve and nourish your tired lower body parts. Instead of bath salts you can try your kitchen's salt; it also works miracles.

After taking each foot out of the water, you should use a towel to dry them very well and then move on to clean and trim your nails. Remember to remove any nail polish from your toes.

It feels good to let the feet come out and breathe by going barefoot. Always be careful when walking barefoot as punctures and cuts can happen this way. Going barefoot in the yard seems safer but then you can run into fire ants and other critters you can't see called microbes that can enter through the skin of the feet and actually cause intestinal problems.

Tired feet need care so that they look soft and supple again. After a long day wash and apply foot cream with a soothing massage. The foot cream may be medicinal and it can help in healing the cracks, dryness and smooth out rough skin. Tight shoes lead to corns and calluses.

For starters, while you are doing your washing chores, you can let the soap stay on your foot and brush it off once your chores are over. You could try the milk and wheat flour combination on your feet as well. Believe it or not, toothpaste is known to be great for cleaning and softening the feet. You can round off with a short massage with a cream or a moisturizer.
