Cloud IBN Assists PMC with Disaster Recovery Bulk SMS

It has been recently revealed that IBN will be assisting the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) with sophisticated technology to implement their ambitious plans of sending bulk SMS services to prevent any loss of life and property on account of natural disasters.
The idea endorsed by the PMC disaster management cell is to provide quick help to stranded people or those in water logged areas due to the flood like situation that often occurs during the monsoon. This service has now been commissioned and will be in force till the end of the rainfall season.
To ensure that an efficient disaster management system is in place, PMC will need the help of the latest technologies available for this purpose. With IBN’s proven track record in this department, it did not take long for the PMC to rope in a tried and tested reliable partner in IBN.
This service will provide a quick response to initiate disaster management techniques to the people in urgent need. Most of the people in the city of Pune and the nearby surrounding areas, can benefit from these services in case of an emergency.
The Pune Municipal Commissioner, Rajendra Jagtap, stated that the disaster management cell along with the expertise of IBN, have compiled a comprehensive database of all the relevant information of the local corporators and the civic staff that are responsible for their respective zones. Many of the people in charge of managing their housing societies will also be informed in case an emergency like situation arises.
The Commissioner added that they had decided not to send these SMS to the individuals directly as it is likely to create a panic like situation in some parts and create more chaos in the bargain.
This special cell will work 24/7 in 3 shifts and all the necessary machineries that are needed for this purpose have been activated. In addition, there are 15 ward offices that will be required to combat any flood like situation when the need arises.
It is necessary to add here that all this preparation with various concerned personnel requires a high level of coordination between them and all the other concerned parties. Only IBN with its extensive knowledge and advanced technical knowhow could provide all the required solutions and that too in quick time.
It was equally important to identify the most prone flooding areas. Mostly, these are located on the Mulla Mutha riversides. There are 39 such sites that tend to get flooded when water from the Khadakwasla dam is released. Most of the people residing on the river banks would need temporary accommodation and other benefits.
There is a need for complete coordination between the PMC and the irrigation department as well. There have been instances when the irrigation department releases water at a short notice, which may complicate the issue. With the sophisticated IBN technology in hand, this and other similar issues can be resolved.
Also, a mock drill will be conducted shortly to ascertain the response time of the disaster management cell. The changes in the system, if required, will be incorporated immediately. There will also be about 1500 employees of the PMC who will be suitably trained to manage all disaster like situations.
The PMC acknowledges the role played by IBN by providing all the technical knowhow required to manage this huge endeavor successfully.
