HTML 20. You Don’t Need To Think Big To Reach Your Goals 20. You Don’t Need To Think Big To Reach Your Goals Author: Ab van DeemterMost motivational coaches or mentors stimulate us to dream as big as possible to reach a goal in our lives. This may work well for confident people who are used to manifesting whatever it is that they want to manifest, but for the great majority of us, however, this is not the way it usually works. For most of us it's even disastrous to think too big. It's much better to think of a goal that is just beyond our comfort zone. If, for example, you are single and you would like to be in a relationship again, but you haven't had one for quite some time, then it's not so obvious to imagine yourself surrounded by large amounts of the most fantastic looking models. Why? Because you will not believe it's possible and therefore it won't happen. If you like to earn more money, for most of us it wouldn't be obvious to all of a sudden visualize earning something like € 200.000,- a year, simply because we would not believe that to be possible. Instead it would be better to focus at a goal that is reasonable. Something that can be accomplished within a few months. Like one interesting date in the next couple of months, for instance, or a 10 % salary increase. Now here are some self motivation tips, that can help you to accomplish your goals if you practice them 5 - 10 minutes a day. You can use them as self motivation exercise in order to obtain the necessary self motivation skills. The first thing we need to do for that is to create some sort of a declaration of intent, by writing down our goal every morning in a short sentence. Here are some examples: "I am now attracting a more loving relationship into my life". "I will now earn 10% more salary each month". "I am now creating more confidence and a higher self-esteem". Of course it's best to create your own wording. The important thing is that when we write it down or say it, we can feel that the emotional state agrees with the statement. Make sure to avoid words like: no, don't and not, because our mind works in images, so if you say something like: "I don't want to be alone anymore", you are creating the image of being alone and therefore sending out the energy of loneliness, which will then result into attracting more of that. Make sure you always create the opposite of what you don't want. Another thing is that we hear a lot about affirmations nowadays, but an affirmation like "I am exercising every day" is not going to work if you are not exercising every day, simply because you immediately feel you're lying to yourself. Statements that begin with "I am now attracting ..." or "I am now creating ..." are at least true while you're saying them or writing them down and therefore they hold no contradictions in your emotions. The next thing to do is to feel as if you have already accomplished what you focus on. Literally feel the excitement and happiness you will be feeling, knowing you have accomplished your dream or goal. Be happy and celebrate within yourself the knowledge that you can use your power within to change your life. And make sure to NOT tolerate any negative feelings about this. Refrain from creating doubts and remove all of your resistance issues about this. Now while you are enjoying this feeling, take a moment to look back at today from that future moment and ask yourself what single action you can take today, to bring this dream to you faster. The you, who has accomplished the goal knows what steps need to be taken and after having taken that first step you can ask yourself from thereon what is the next most practical action is that you can take. You know, taking action, no matter how small, is the fastest and surest way to convince your subconscious mind that you are serious and it will help you tremendously with the quick manifestation of your goals. What IS important, though, is that you work on one goal at a time. Don't change goals, unless you are absolutely sure you no longer want the one you started to work on. If you do not want the goal any longer, than choose a new one and start all over again. If however you DO still want the original goal, than stick to it and don't stop until you have realized it. If you practice this for only 5 - 10 minutes each day, it works without a hitch. That means IF you actually do it.
