HTML Decades with the Ford Galaxie Decades with the Ford Galaxie Author: Chuck SmithFrom the Ford Motor Company, the Ford Galaxie was yet another model of the company's vehicle line up. It had its production years from 1950 up until 1974. In Brazil, this vehicle was produced under various names like the Ford Galaxie 500, the Ford LTD, and the Ford Landau. This was back in 1968 up until 1982. This vehicle model was mostly confused with the Ford Galaxy which was a modern era minivan. This line of vehicles came with different variations. It was chrome-decked and stainless-accented. It also held a two tone glitzy color. This was what the American automobile looked like during that era. It held features like a retractable hardtop that had the capability to fold down into the trunk space. This was very impressive but it was quite complicated for most people and it also left people with a big hole in their pockets for it was on the high end. When the top was folded down, it actually left very little trunk room. The next decade, the Ford Galaxie came with lesser ornamentations. It held a more sleek look and a more futuristic appeal. There were tailfins but smaller ones this time. The focus of the vehicle this time was an appeal towards space and the future. This time, the Ford Galaxie held a curving rear observation window which was mounted on a pillarless hardtop body shell. In the mid-1960s, this vehicle line came with vertically stacked dual headlights. This was the fashion that time with cars. And towards the end of that decade, the vehicle now had a more muscle-car look. It was humped in construction and it concealed its headlights, which was in that time.
