Great Wall at Mutianyu – A scenic getaway into the heart of China’s natural splendour

The Great Wall at Mutianyu is a great place to visit for a fun and relaxing family day out when holidaying in Beijing. The wall represents the culture and heritage of the Chinese, attracting crowds of locals and tourists daily to experience its beauty and splendour. Situated approximately 73 kilometers from Beijing in the Huairou County, the wall stretches on for 2.25 kilometers connecting the JuYongGuan Pass in the west to the Gubeikou in the east.

The Great Wall of Mutianyu was originally constructed during the Qi Dynasty between the periods of 550 to 577. The wall was reconstructed again during the Ming Dynasty and is very much reminiscent of the Great Wall at Badaling. Winding through picturesque scenery consisting of lush greenery, majestic mountains and steep ridges, the Matianyu Wall is made of granite and stands at a height of 7 to 8 meters from the ground.

The site that is home to the wall provides a peaceful and natural haven ideal for nature lovers' and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. Along the wall stand 22 watch towers at regular intervals. Additionally, visitors to the Mutianyu Wall are able to enjoy cable car rides that are offered here and experience the thrill of swooping down the mountainsides.
