Honeymooning On A Budget

Once you make the plunge on marriage, one of the first experiences you will have is shock at how expensive everything is. Honeymooning on a budget is a good way to limit the cost, but still have a great time.
Honeymooning On A Budget
Sometimes, the destination of a honeymoon isn't the only thing a couple has to consider. Whether you've just spent a lot of money on your lavish wedding ceremony, or you just don't have a lot of money to spend. Honeymooning on a budget can be necessary in order to avoid starting life together in the bankruptcy court. Inexpensive honeymoons do not have to be bad honeymoons. If you are careful about which destination you choose and what time of year you travel, you can have a great honeymoon for little money.
Most couples long for the romantic atmosphere and perfect climate of an island getaway or feel the pull of a historic city like Paris, France. Exchange rates for United States dollars are not that good at this time, especially against the Euro (the unit of money for most European nations) ? so travel to Europe may not be the most economical way to have a honeymoon. The same goes for traveling to many Caribbean islands and nations. For many couples, finding cheap honeymoons may involve staying within the United States.
According the American Automobile Association (AAA), the cheapest five states to have your honeymoon in are as follows: Nebraska, North Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Not the country's most scenic or hospitable states, but if you are looking for a place to go that's really inexpensive, those are the states to visit. Other options include driving instead of flying to a destination in the US (for example, taking a cross country trip in a car from New York to California), but this too can be less of a bargain than usual because of high gas prices.
Another way to book inexpensive honeymoons is to choose one of the many all-inclusive resorts (located in various Caribbean countries, Mexico and even the US). While not as cheap as a short driving trip to a nearby state, all-inclusive resorts do tend to save honeymooners money as everything is paid for before you get to your destination. That way, if prices of food, fuel or accommodations do go up, you are not affected, because you have already locked in your lower rate. You also won't be tempted to spend additional money on alcoholic beverages or fancy restaurants, because these items are already included in your bill.
Finding inexpensive honeymoons can help you to save money, which is important for many couples in these troubled financial times. Just be sure to choose a destination and time of year that you'll be happy with, even if it's not your first choice.
