You Too Can Get Life Insurance If You're Disabled

Has disease or injury kept you from applying for a life insurance policy? If so, I suggest that you don't give up just yet. Granted, there are some things that will eliminate you from consideration, but unless you know this for certain you should get in contact with an insurance agent and give it a try.

Several years ago I I came across a man that was certain that he couldn't buy life insurance coverage on himself because he was a diabetic. I told him that just because I understood his circumstances, I was sure that it shouldn't hurt to go ahead and fill out the application, after all, you just never know what might happen. You probably already guessed, he was approved. I have to be honest that even I was a bit shocked, but it proves that it never hurts to try. In this case, the Underwriter mailed a form back asking a series of specific questions and, |after seeing the answers|once they'd seen the answers|after going over the responses}, decided that this individual was insurable after all.

I can't sit here and promise you that if you have a terminal disease that you'll be able to to buy life insurance. That wouldn't be fair to you or professional on my part. However, just because you happen to have a specific disease or condition doesn't immediately exclude you from consideration for a life insurance policy.

The final decision maker is the above mentioned "Underwiter". The Underwriter reviews the application and, after taking all things into consideration, he or she will make a final decision. Their job is not to single you out or pick on you. They are simply protecting the interests of the company and nothing more. They have a set list of guidelines that they are made to follow when reviewing applications for life insurance and their decision isn't personal. The good news is that you might actually be within these guidelines and not know that you're eligible. That's because you may have just assumed you wouldn't be covered and that's isn't always the case.

If you have a disabling injury or disease and need to purchase life insurance for yourself then, unless you've already been told that you don't qualify, why not answer a few questions? This way you'll know for certain whether you're able to buy the coverage that your loved one's must have in the event of your death.
