Christmas celebration around the world -
Christmas is the most widely celebrated festival, though it is celebrated only on the 25th of December, preparations for the celebration begin well in advance. It is celebrated by Christians and non-Christians alike with equal fervor. With Christianity spread all over the world, the people of each country have imbibed their own cultural tradition and practices into the celebration of Christmas. Christmas celebration have also seen a change because of the changing times and the onset of Technological Age, but despite all of this there are quite a few traditions that have remained the same throughout the years.
Common Christian traditions -
Gifts - Like most festivals, even in Christmas, gifts are given to each other on the day of Christmas, what is different is way the gifts are given. The gifts are placed under the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve that is the 24th of December, believed to have been put there by Santa Claus at night; they are opened the next day.
Christmas Tree - Houses are decorated with green colored Christmas trees. These trees are decorated with different kinds of ornaments, like angel, stars and bell figurines which are hung on their branches, and on top of the tree a big star is placed, as the symbol of the star which appeared in the sky, the night Jesus Christ was born. The tree is then placed in the living room, under which all the gifts are kept.
Santa Claus - Though this tradition of Santa Claus was started by the Americans, it is today celebrated all over the world. It is believed that Santa Claus, on the eve of Christmas, goes from one home to another, delivering gifts to the children who have been good throughout the year. In the U.K. Santa Claus is referred to as Father Christmas.
Christmas Lights and Decorations - During the month of December, homes of people are decked up with beautiful Christmas decorations and lights. Decorations include wreaths, stars, tinsel and baubles of different colors, shapes and sizes. As for the lights, various colored lights of different sizes, are put up inside and outside the house, even on the Christmas tree and are lit at night.

Christmas truly is an International festival, whose message of Love and Peace spreads across borders and unites the world in celebration, making it a Christmas world.
