Research, Write, Publish and Grow Rich!

By: Gabriel Ungureanu | Posted: 15th June 2007

Yes it's true. The Internet has changed everything! Not too long ago the richest people out there were those that owned tangible things, such as real estate, metals or real estate.

Today, the wealthiest people in the world own... well - nothing! That is, nothing physical or tangible. Most of the wealthiest people today own intangible things, such as stocks, software and, of course, information.

Now these people didn't become millionaires overnight but, with the help of the Internet, even the little guy now has a fighting chance. The Internet has truly leveled the playing field.

For example, not too long ago it was nearly impossible for the little guy to publish and market their own book in such a way as to make any meaningful amounts of money. Now, with the Internet, anybody can publish their ebooks and easily promote them online.

Then, it should come as no surprise to us that many people have jumped on this digital self-publishing band-wagon. In fact, many ordinary people have published their digital books online (also called eBooks), and made a fortune for themselves with very little money, time or effort.

So now that you see the obvious benefits of writing your own eBooks, then we come to a very important question that I get asked all the time - how does one get started with their own eBook, especially if you're a new writer?

Well, if this is you then I have three things to say:

1. Research Writing

Go to your local bookstore and pick up every book you can find on writing. Read them and go through any writing exercises that will help you get over any mental barriers you have to writing.

There are no excuses to learning how to write it's a matter of determination, not talent. In addition, you may also want to make sure that you read at least one book every week in the genre in which you want to write. Saturate yourself in quality writing that you want to emulate.

And when you do start writing, your initial work may sound a bit like some of these writers. Which is completely normal, but as you keep writing your own style and voice will eventually surface.

2. Simply Write

Now this is the best advice that I can give anybody that wants to write. Just write. Set up a strict schedule for writing every day and make sure that you follow it. Start with 15 minutes and work your way up to an hour or two.

Write about things that you already know something about. Research your topic even if you're already an expert on a particular topic you should always do research for what you're writing about. For example, if you've discovered a technique that gets you free advertising, then write about that. But, whatever you do just write!

There are many days that I'll sit down at my desk, launch Word, turn off my monitor and just write. As a warm-up I'll write about anything and everything that comes to me. I'll do that for a couple of minutes and then I'll turn my monitor back on and start writing for real.

After this simple exercise, I'm usually surprised at how quickly words just fly at me. I'll write for hours on end producing quality work. This simple technique really works for me but, it's important that you find out what works for you. That's why it's important that you research writing. And, as you do get passed all the mental barriers that you may have towards writing then theirs no telling what you're capable of.

3. Compile & Publish

As I've already said the Internet changes everything. Internet users want information and they want it right now. That's why eBooks are considered the "perfect" online product. But, before you can sell your eBook, you must first purchase an eBook compiler, such as Adobe Acrobat that will convert your manuscript into a PDF file which would make it easily viewable on any computer worldwide. This is the granddaddy of all eBook compilers except that it is a little pricey. However, if you're looking for a less expensive solution, then you may want to consider eBook Edit Pro or eBook Gold.

But, which ever eBook compiler you decide to go with - when you finish compiling your eBook, then you'll have an unlimited inventory supply on hand.

Now, making your eBook available in digital format is only the beginning. Because, at this point you can start marketing and selling your eBook online. And, there are hundreds of different ways that you can market and promote your eBook online for free that's what makes the Internet so powerful when it comes to marketing and advertising. Not only are there hundreds of different ways that you can get the word out there about your eBook, but there are millions and millions of people online worldwide which potentially gives you an incredibly huge audience.

So whether you're a housewife, teacher, or a doctor, you can write your own eBook and publish it so that you can make money online. But whatever you do write! It all starts when you write. So, start today research writing and then write, write, write!
