By: TheCreditGuy | Posted: 01st July 2007
So you haven’t had the best financial fortune. Your employment record hasn’t been so great. You’ve piled up some debts here and there. You’ve missed some payments. Seems normal nowadays. Right?
It may be more common now, but it’s just as devastating to your credit as ever. Your credit report is a mess, you can’t dig out because of the high interest rates you’re being offered. You’re stuck.
Maybe not…
You can learn the basics of credit repair so you can fix your credit and enjoy life for what it’s supposed to be.
How, though? Do you hire a credit repair service or company? Do you look for a credit repair attorney?
Most of the things you need to learn to repair your credit can be found without the help of a professional. Can you write a letter? Can you make a budget? Can you change the way you spend money? If you can then you’re well on your way to fixing your credit report.
Start by getting a copy of your credit report from the major credit bureaus. You’re entitled to it by law and it doesn’t cost a lot! After you get the report, review it thoroughly, looking for inaccuracies.
Your next step will be sending dispute letters to the credit bureaus. The credit bureaus have a set time frame to either prove the accuracy of the information or remove it. In many cases, they are unable to respond timely which means the information is removed.
Credit repair sample letters can be found in many places. They are your template for writing the credit bureaus, the first step to fixing your bad credit.
While you’re waiting for responses, take a serious look at your financial situation, including your income, your debts, and your budget. Are you spending beyond your means? Do you have too many accounts? Are you using a budget on a weekly and monthly basis?
Credit repair, along with improving your financial outlook can get you back on track in a relatively short amount of time and repair that bad credit.
Your brand new life awaits!
