Simple Ways to Fix Your Credit Report
By: TheCreditGuy | Posted: 02nd July 2007
When you’re asked for identification what do you provide? A drivers license, a passport, an ID card from work? What about your credit report?
Yes, your credit report. Think about it…it’s becoming so important these days that it really is another way we identify ourselves. Especially to those who we’d ask to lend us money.
Think, for just a momen, about how many different things we buy on credit these days? Cars, houses, furniture, electronics, boats, RV’s, and much more. Having good credit is almost a necessity in this day and age. If your credit is bad, you’re paying more for every one of those purchases mentioned above, because of the interest rates you’ll be stuck with. In fact, many insurance companies determine your premiums from your credit report, the theory being that folks who are more financially responsible have fewer claims.
So what should you do when you’re looking at a credit report full of late payments, charge-offs, and old accounts full of inaccuracies?
Fix it yourself!
Oh, but you couldn’t possibly do that. After all, the credit repair attorneys and credit repair services have got you believing that only they can help. They’ve convinced you that only their specialized knowledge can make a difference in fixing your credit report.
That’s just wrong!
With the right information, motivation and some time, you can fix your credit, yourself, using many of same techniques the professionals use. The Fair Credit Reporting Act allows you to dispute inaccurate items on your credit report. The credit bureau must respond within a certain period of time or remove the item if they cannot.
Can you read?
Can you write a letter?
Can you sit down and figure out a budge?
If you answered ‘Yes’ then you can fix your credit, yourself. I need to let you in on a little secret…it’s not rocket science.
Start by obtaining your credit report. Go over it item by item for inaccuracies. Write letter to the credit bureaus disputing inaccurate items. See…simple.
With some hard work and discipline, you can remake yourself financially and start living the life you only dreamed about.
