I continuously attempt distinguish Google and Yahoo difference, since I had understood web2.0, then it was clear.
Google has business localization to be the information power plant, their man-power and intelligent system can read all data, and then by seeker’s preference to offer the tailormade information, including advertisement. Therefore Google search may say is subjective offering the tailormade their information for everybody.
But Yahoo has business localization to be offering media, hope gathering more people use Yahoo service. Those services may not be searching engine, also including other service, like shopping, auction, answers, etc…in order to create a virtual society. The people also live in Yahoo circle. But as for searching engine, Yahoo has different definition with Google, Yahoo search is subjective offering the website with the most plentiful content.
No matter Google or Yahoo all respectively make the response to the distance-end age, in English world, Google in searches is in the lead temporarily Yahoo, but Yahoo is in the lead in other languages Google.
Yahoo has formed a Yahoo person's virtual social through more other services. Google also has become a Google person's virtual social group through Adsens.
Regarding Yahoo, it must more difficult than Google to manage their virtual social group. Because Yahoo has many different service combination and languages, therefore he also constantly use purchasing and merging for develop.
For example in China, Yahoo China once purchased domestic 3721 search engine, hope strengthening search ability was not only a basic website. But the effect not good, moreover also has no way to make a profit. Finally by one billion Yuan cooperate with Alibaba.
Regarding Alibaba purchases Yahoo China that immediately provided an enormous virtual social group to make C2C for Taobao auction business, and had the opportunity to expand its B2B market place business.
In the beginning Alibaba buys Yahoo China, Alibaba turns Yahoo China to be the website only offering search engine, the intention is hoped establishment Chinese Google and provides the long-distance service. If succeeds, it will be able extra to obtain plenty of income it comes from Chinese world advertising revenue and further expands Yahoo China's virtual social group population. But it was changed due to the final effect not good. Because Baidu indeed does in this aspect is more superior than Alibaba or Yahoo China.
However, Now under the Alibaba management, Yahoo China is better than past.
In Hong Kong, Yahoo also excel Google. Yahoo Hong Kong provides the massive service attraction local national, but also has the off-line meeting to maintain this 2 millions people of virtual social groups.
Therefore also may make one more distinguished. Google focus on providing the technical plan, for example more free software and Yahoo focus on taking the advertisement as the main source of income provide non-technical service, and collects fees from service, advertisement by no means main income source, but Yahoo also does not have a source of income to be specially remarkable.
