Tapping Into Deeper Online Wells

If you are new to the affiliate marketing game, then you understand the pressures associated with creating a web site, filling it with content, trying to compel visitors to sign up for your mailing lists, and writing and editing email promotions, newsletters, and other online marketing duties. While affiliate marketing can be a hugely profitable business, it is not the way to easy money as others may have told you.

But there is hope in the way of joint ventures. Joint ventures can occur when two businesses are in need of each other's services. For example, while you may have a few people on your mailing list, you still need more in order to make a profit. Your marketing efforts are beginning to pay off, but you want to move the process along a little bit. How about partnering with an affiliate who sells products that are similar to yours, but who has a much larger email list? Not only would this joint venture save you time, it would:

 Increase your sales
 Help your online reputation
Allow you to spend time marketing in other areas
Give you more exposure on the internet

In order to pursue this type of joint venture, all you need is be willing to give a certain percentage of your commission from sales you make using their email list and placing an ad on their web site.

Looking for joint venture opportunities

Since you have to spend time marketing online anyway, spend some time looking for joint venture opportunities. Start by searching for product web sites that offer similar products to yours. While you don't want to choose an affiliate that is working for the same company as yours, choose sites that cater to target groups you are interested in pursuing.

When you find a site, you should:

See how many other affiliates are connected with the site
Make sure the site is legitimate
 Get all contact information

You should also find out as much as you can about the number of people who visit the site each day. Choosing a site that receives very little web traffic will not help your business.

The next step is to contact the owner to see if they are interested in a joint venture. Within a few hours, you could have your ad on their web site, and access to their mailing list.

Other types of joint ventures

There are other types of joint ventures to be found on the internet. If you have an email list that is not yielding what is once was in terms of sales, then you may need to generate more interest by writing a newsletter, email promotions, or articles to upload to your web site or publish online. Partnering with a writer or affiliate marketer who understands your market and who can breathe new life into your mailing list is a great way to boost sales.

In return, you give them a percentage of sales earned through their efforts or access to the list so they can generate sales from it also.

Joint ventures can be very successful as long as everyone is honest and willing to do a little leg work. Many times, partnering with another business will yield new marketing ideas, new target groups, and increased sales, which everyone benefits from.
