What is GPS Tracking?

GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is a 24 -satellite network that sends information to GPs receivers. Software determines a location in three dimensions. The location of a vehicle is determined by measuring the distance from a user's location to the precise location of the orbiting satellites. Three coordinates are established by measuring the distance. These are: latitude, longitude, and altitude.

Why Use GPS Tracking?

Although this technology was developed for the Department of Defense, it didn't take long for this technology to catch on in the private sector- especially to find stolen cars. Most people don't realize the extent of auto theft. The numbers of stolen vehicles daily are stagering. Every 20 seconds a vehicle is stolen in the US alone. Only 63% of these will be recovered with out a tracking device. The top ten states for auto theft are:

CA, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, Washington, New York, Ohio, & Illinois.

Most people don't even think about GPS let alone what it can do for them. When cars are stolen they usually are striped of parts and the owner loses money even with insurance. This problem drives up the cost of auto insurance. Individual users of GPS units may be able to receive a discount on their auto insurance policy. There are several states at present that require this and other states that do this voluntarily. What you can do with our GPS units is keep a log of your driving habits such as speed, times of usage, miles driven etc. Keep these records to prove to your auto insurer that you qualify for other rate deductions as well. The unit will pay for itself!

Safety of elderly or teenage driver is one of the main reasons GPS is helpful to the individual. But what about a Business with a fleet of vehicles to manage? Business people hire excellent help of course, but many fleet owners are reporting substantial savings on gas alone. Overtime, driving habits of each driver and location at a certain point in time can be proved. When other drivers make a claim about a certain driver, proof can be obtained from the records saving court costs. Emergencies are reported effortlessly, routes can be planned more efficiently, deliveries made on time making happy customers. The list goes on and on!

What Type of Unit should you purchase?

There are many choices out there and the research needed to choose one could drive you crazy. Some have limited features and maybe that's all you need. Some have pay plans similar to cell phones and others have some unfamiliar rate plan. Consider your budget and what you need this for. Study the comparison sheets if one is available. You get what you pay for. See www.finestgpstracking.com
