Hair Loss Treatments: What Are The Options

Aside from wigs or transplants as a method of stopping hair loss, there are several alternative hair loss treatments available. All vary in price and method, ranging from doing them in a persons home, to going to a specialist clinic.

Processes involving steam supposedly work much the same way as saunas. The heat from the steam pries open the pores, allowing accumulated debris to exit with the sweat. This "treatment" could be done in an individual's bathroom , or in an actual steam room in a gymnasium. Either way, the product should be used to aid the process.

A treatment, which uses a high frequency current to massage the scalp cells in order to stimulate the surface of the scalp, is called high frequency alternative treatment. This treatment helps in nurturing the cells and excites the circulation of blood and also the local glandular activity. To add to this, the treatment also provides the necessary heat to the scalp cells and pacifies the nervous system of the scalp.

Laser treatment is a very new type of treatment that is on the market. A low voltage beam is pulsated across the scalp which claims to give stimulation to the follicle which makes new hair grow. This treatment can cost up to several thousand dollars for a course of 30 visits to the clinic.

For proper absorption of the medication, the scalp should be rubbed gently. This will help to "open" the pores in your scalp. Some believe, another benefit is that this will increase the blood supply along the surface of your scalp; which helps to form embryonic hair; developed when the capillary system transports the medication.

Most clinics have their own offering of hair shampoos, conditioners and tonic. Top performing clinics sell months worth of treatments selling these products as a package. The products can be expensive and oftentimes they are not worth the money spent on them. If a person decides to use these as an alternative to other hair loss treatments, he should ask for the three main ingredients that make up the product. It's best to ask a physician to see if the ingredients listed are effective for hair loss. If possible, see if you can get a free sample. Any clinic that is hesitant to provide sample might not have faith in its own products. Beware of these types of clinics.
