How to Sell Your CD’s Online
By: Georgina Pearce | Posted: 21st January 2008
Here are a few things you’ll need to do in order to sell your music online.
Make copies. You’ll need to replicate or duplicate your CD’s if you want to sell them.
If you’re going for a small copy run, you should choose duplication. Replication is better for large orders of thousands of CD’s.
Build a website. Every band needs a website nowadays. Your website can include Mp3 clips, video clips from your concerts, a list of coming appearances and tour dates, and even a blog.
Have an easy way to pay. Customers must be able to buy your music easily. You can set up a payment processing form on your site, or use an online store builder from a site like Paypal or Yahoo!.
Sell on third-party sites. You can use a retail site such as Amazon.com, or a niche music site that sells music in general or your type of music in particular.
Use social networking sites to your advantage. Many of your fans have accounts on social networking sites, which is why they’re a good way for bands to connect with fans.
Bands should always read the terms of agreement, however, before signing up.
The web can help you find new fans and sell your music online, and it’s worth it to put in the time to set up a thriving online business.
