Strange car insurance claims show the need for good cover

Whenever you take out a car insurance policy, you’re always strongly advised to read the small print to make sure you’re covered in the event of a claim. However, some scenarios are more far-fetched than others.

AA insurance has released a list of some of the most bizarre claims made on its car insurance policies. The list reveals an array of circumstances you certainly don’t expect on an average day’s motoring.

One of the claims listed involved a female driver who saw a bull crash through a fence and dent the side of her vehicle – although there was no clarification as to whether the car in question was red!

Another man made a claim for damages after a forklift truck dumped apples on his car, denting the vehicle, while another driver was the victim of a trolley dash when supermarket trolleys cascaded from the back of a lorry on to his car.

While these unusual sets of circumstances may be amusing to read for everyone other than the victims, they do come with a serious message that it’s vital you take out a comprehensive, rather than stripped down, car insurance policy.

Though most consumer-friendly websites will stress that you should shop around for cheap car insurance, you shouldn’t sacrifice the quality of your cover to grab a cheap premium.

That’s why price comparison tools are useful to help you save both time and money. Searching online you can compare dozens of quotes from several providers in minutes and also read what each policy offers so you can ensure you’re getting the right deal for you.

Comprehensive car insurance is more expensive than third party coverage. However, if you’re savvy with the way you search you needn’t sacrifice comprehensive cover to secure cheap car insurance. You deserve quality at the right price – don’t settle for anything less.
