The Ins and outs of heating cover
By: Karl Bantleman | Posted: 06th February 2008
As the winter nights grow longer, the possibility of something going wrong with your boiler increases and the last thing you want at this time of year is to be without heating and warm water. This is why you have decided to buy heating cover, so what are the next steps to finding the best deal for you.
The first thing to do is to search around for the best heating cover deals, this has been made considerably easier by the internet where you can compare various companies at the click of a button. When comparing companies, you will need to have some information to hand in order to get an accurate quote. Certain questions that you should expect are; your postcode, to find out what deals are available in your area, how many bedrooms you have and the how old your boiler is.
When buying your heating cover , you will have the option to add some extra cover. Some deals may not have sufficient cover so ensure you know what you are covered for so you won’t get any surprises if your boiler does break down. An important point to remember is the most expensive is not necessarily the best for you. If you have a new boiler and only 2 bedrooms then your cover is going to be cheaper than if you had a 10 year old boiler and 5 bedrooms.
Make sure you know the charges for call outs, some heating cover does not include call-outs and will charge for each completed repair. Paying extra for a deal will probably ensure that you do not get charged for each repair.
If you already have heating cover, finding the best deal for you might mean switching, this may be easy or difficult depending on your current deal. It may be that all you have to do is ring your current provider and cancel, however if you have a long-term fixed contract then there may be fees in switching so take these into account.
