It seems very odd to me when I look at the latest statistics of people who start a home business. A recent report shows that eight thousand people start a home based business every day, but what's staggering is that 90% of them will fail in the first year. OK...so the real question is how the other 10% succeeds. You don't start a business with the idea of failure. So why is there such a disparity? What does that other 10% know?
Well first of all do not be sitting there thinking, their smarter than me or have more business experience than I do; because if that's what you're thinking, you're absolutely wrong. To be successful in a home based business you do not need any formal training or education, special skills or some super intelligence. It doesn't even take a lot of cash investment to be successful. But what it does take is effort; massive action on your part. To be successful in your home business there are four things you need to know.
Number one - there is no such thing as get rich quick. When you start off do not expect to make millions right off the bat. It takes time to build a successful business. No that's not to say that there are not millionaires who work from home, there are, and you want to one of them. However, they did not achieve their success over night; it took time, sacrifice and massive action on their part. So if you're patient have a plan and are willing to work hard to build the business you too will be a work from home millionaire
Number two -the business will not run by itself. If you purchase an e-book for $97 that says do this one simple thing and you'll make millions in just hours, forget there's no such thing. The fact is you need a plan. Develop a business plan for advertising and set a budget. Write down your goals and check them often. If you have daily tasks a stick to them the results will follow. If something isn't working, try something else. You need a process and a belief in yourself; the prefect formula for success.
Number three -now I know I just said you did not need any special knowledge to own your own home based business. However, I know you've heard of that old saying 'Knowledge is power'. Well that holds true to home business own. As the home business owner you're the only one running the show at first, so the business can only grow as much as you grow. Every successful business man or woman understands the value of continual learning. You must be constantly looking for new ideas and methods of marketing. The Internet is always changing. Case in point - Web 2.0; you now need to know social marketing techniques, and perfect your audio and video skills. The days of posting an ad in the newspaper to market your home business are gone. So the time you take to learn these new skills are well worth your time and money. Your bottom line will benefit.
Number four - you must focus on your business. The number one reason most home based business fail is due to a lack of focus. That means a strong business plan and clearly defined goals that you review continually. The new business owner tends to give up too soon. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Success takes time. Truly successful people understand that success does not happen over night. If your patient and follow your plan the rewards of a successful business will be yours.
