Ras Mohamed National Park is located at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula at the northern end of the Red Sea. The scuba diving at Ras Mohamed is of an exceptionally high standard, and dive sites such as Shark and Yolanda Reef have become popular in recent years as an increasing number of divers visit this part of the Red Sea.

The secret to the amazing levels of marine and coral life in Ras Mohamed lie in the nutrient rich waters which are swept across the Sinai Peninsula by the deep waters of the Gulf of Aqaba and the relatively shallow waters of the Gulf of Suez. Each of these large expanses of water carry the nutrients through Ras Mohamed, creating the natural attraction of a food rich environment.

There are a number of exceptional dive sites in Ras Mohamed which follow around the tip of the Peninsula. Starting at Ras Atar, and following the coastline round past Jackfish Alley and Shark Observatory, and finally to the twin peaks of Shark and Yolanda Reef.

Over 1,000 species of fish can be found in the waters surrounding Ras Mohamed, making it easily one of the best dive sites in the Red Sea. Large numbers of pelagic fish, including Tuna, Barracuda and Groupers can regularly be found here, as well as stunning array of reef fish.

A wide variety of sharks can also be sighted in the waters surrounding Ras Mohamed, and these range from the common Black tip and white tip reef sharks, through to Oceanic White tips, Lemon Sharks and blue sharks amongst others.

The majority of the scuba diving in Ras Mohamed National Park is done via the large number of dive boats which visit each day from Sharm el Sheikh. However, there are also a number of liveaboards which regularly visit Ras Mohamed on their way to sites further afield such as the Thistlegorm wreck and the Dunraven wrecks.

If you are planning a diving holiday in Sharm El Sheikh, and are looking at diving in Ras Mohamed, it is certainly worthwhile contacting a number of the dive operators in Sharm El Sheikh; to see which operator best suits your needs and requirements. There are a large number of dive operators in Sharm El Sheikh, and the vast majority are experienced and well equipped as well as extremely knowledgeable about the diving in the region.
