What are the Dangers of Insecticides?
In a nutshell, insecticides are dangerous because its use sabotages the ecological balances and systems and it poisons consumers and the environment. It also encourages the development of pests’ resistance. What people do not know is that too much use of insecticides eventually erodes the soil health. In fact, agriculturists do not recommend the use of insecticides. But the soil’s health is the least of the concerns of health experts. What primarily concerns health experts are the poison-laden food that consumers eat whenever they buy non-organic foods.

Insecticides stick to the plants. You might think that carrots are great for your kids. You wouldn’t think so if you’d know how much chemicals are stuck on the plant surface. Can I not remove them by thoroughly washing the vegetables? Perhaps, you’d remove some but definitely not all – never all of it. If you have your own backyard where you plant your own vegetables or if you are a farmer, you should know that if you use chemical insecticides, you are actually raising hazardous crops. If you brought in vegetables from your own backyard with the intent of feeding it to your toddler, you are actually placing dangerous chemicals into your toddler’s mouth. This is really not a good picture; however, you need not stop planting your own vegetables or crops. You only need to stop using those chemical insecticides and opt for natural insecticides.

Using Natural Insecticides
Indeed, there are natural insecticides that you can use as an alternative to the dangerous chemical insecticides. These natural insecticides do not stick to plants; and even if there are some that burrows themselves into the plants surface, you could easily wash them off with water – absolutely no sweat! You’d be rest assured that your toddler would soon be chewing on a healthy natural carrot stick.

The drawback to natural insecticides is that it requires a little more effort from you especially if you are going to make homemade natural insecticides. There are people who might find this bothersome. You also need to have enough pesticides especially during rainy days. You always need to put insecticides after rain. However, if you are concern of your children’s health or your consumers’ health, the work is a small price to pay for healthy food. You’d also be kinder to your soil.

It might be difficult to look for agriculturists or experts who’d hold your hand as they guide you through the process of creating natural insecticides. Your best alternative to learning the process is the Internet. Of course, you can always browse through some agricultural books in your public library or purchase a couple of books from a local bookstore. You could also visit your place agriculture office to get some pamphlets or tips. But why bother? You could learn everything you need online.
