Why Use a Shower Head Filter?

Most water that comes into your home contains chlorine, lead, bacteria, algae, and more. When you drink these pollutants not only do they make the water taste bad, they can be harmful to your body and make you sick. To solve this problem, many people turn to water purifiers that you can attach to your faucet.
A bath or shower seems refreshing, but you are being exposed to these same toxins. You might think that there is no danger here because you don't drink your shower water. Raw impure tap water can be readily absorbed by your skin. Not only can your skin absorb these pollutants, you can also inhale the vapors as the warm water creates spray and steam. A pure shower is just as important as pure water to drink. For this reason, you can now buy water filters similar to those on your kitchen sink to attach to your shower head.
Chlorine in your water is a large contributor to major health problems such as circulatory disease and cancer. Chlorine forms free radicals that damage tissue. Your arteries and heart are especially vulnerable. Circulatory tissues are not the only thing effected. Any tissue under stress is more susceptible to deterioration and possible cancer.
Triaholemethanes (THM's) are formed when chlorine combines with natural organic matter from leaves, humus, and soil. These toxins are more dangerous than chlorine alone. Chloroform, a know carcinogen, is the most harmful THM. It is a carcinogen that is known to cause liver and kidney damage. It's also been linked to central nervous system depression.Studies from the Environmental Protection Agency have shown that THMs can be found in all chlorinated water supplies in the United States.
A 15 minute shower is equivalent to drinking about two quarts of the same water. Chlorine is very bad for your lungs, skin, and hair. As you inhale it or as it is absorbed into your skin, internal tissues can be harmed.
Shower filters can also be used to fill up your bathtub. A purifier can eliminate chlorine and heavy metals like lead, mercury, and iron. They can also get rid of bacteria, algae, mildew, and other biological toxins. With a shower purifier, your shower will be cleaner, free of mildew and other minerals that leave hard water spots. Hard water can make your skin and eyes dry and itchy and can dry out your hair. Purifiers get rid of the minerals in hard water making your shower more comfortable.
