Magnetic Networking Is Relationship Building Although I have written about the dangers of online forums, I haven't told you about the benefits of joining online forums. A matter I am about to correct.
The Benefits Of Participating In Online Forums:
* Forums are an excellent place to get instruction. It is possible to get for free, advice that is worth many thousands of dollars. One word of caution though - do check out the background of those giving you advice, not all advice givers are speaking from a position of successful experience.
* It is possible to do market research in forums connected to your niche. You can discover the questions being asked by people in your niche (so you can produce a relevant product to solve their questions). You can also find out how the people you are intending to market to think and talk. You know the kinds of words they use, and the desires that motivate them (these are the triggers that will convince them to buy from you).
* Forums can be an excellent source for lead generation. But please. . . do NOT sign up to a forum and make your first post a pitch for your business. There are correct ways and entirely unsuccessful ways to behave in forums. Take the time to see how others are behaving in the forum you just joined before you post.
* Quality back links are another excellent reason to participate in forums. Forums tend to rank very well in the search engines and as such get a high PR, or Page Rank. The mysterious inner workings of the search engine algorithms value links from sites with a high PR and a little of that authority rubs off on your site.
And for many people that is the most benefit that they see in forums. A fact propagated by many of the "Make Easy Money" e-books and free reports available.
People who see forums like this are missing the number one benefit from online communities.
Relationships Are The Number One Benefit From Forums.
All too frequently I see people come into forums and begin pitching products, or imparting volumes of their great wisdom. But they only serve to alienate themselves or even destroy their credibility and get banned.
Other people come into forums and take the time to establish themselves by giving advice and value where they are able, and asking questions to get help where they are deficient. These people are also building relationships.
You don't have to build relationships with the top gurus in the forum. You can find other upwardly motivated people within your level of experience to build partnerships with. These relationships will generate greater success for you than all the SEO you can learn.
Partnerships allow you to create products and build businesses with others (Joint Ventures - JV). They allow you to market to each others lists - greatly increasing your audience. Relationships give you support and ideas, and keep you going through the tough times.
I can not begin to tell you how valuable I have found the relationships that I have created online. These connections have allowed me access to products and events that I would otherwise never have even known about. Some of these people have taken the time to help and mentor me, giving me information that I could never have afforded.
But even more than that...I have created friendships that I expect to last many years.
