Highlights:
We caught up with veteran actor Alan Rickman at Gen Art Cinema Circle in New York. In the new twisted familial drama, NOBEL SON, he plays pompous chemistry professor Eli Michaelson. On the eve of the announcement that he will win the Nobel Prize, Elis son Bryan, an expert in cannibalism, is abducted from the university where he is seeking his PHD. What follows is a dark and complex tale of secrets and deceit surrounding the scholarly family unit.
Here Alan talks about balancing his life in theater with his life on the screen.
Transcript:
After a distinguished career in theater, Alan Rickman made his big-screen debut playing devilishly sly villains like DIE HARDs Hans Gruber and ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THEIVES Sheriff of Nottingham. With subsequent films he revealed a depth of character capable of handling roles as diverse as a deceased cellist in TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY to a disgruntled angel in 1999s DOGMA. After a career of comic, dramatic, romantic and tragic roles however he will probably always be remembered as Snape form HARRY POTTER AND THE NEVER ENDING SEQUELS. And thus we see why the Nickelodeon Kids Awards are the new Oscars.
