BRCA Demo Autosports NEC 09
Many thanks to Mad Pete, Steve Newey, Steve Leake, Andy Carless, Ian & Derek McLarney, Chris Douglas, Alan Leighton, Steve Ball for turning up, mucking in and continuing to maintain a positive attitude throughout a very tricky weekend, you must all be as shattered as I am, not everyone would help build the track/stand, do the two day demo, help tear it all down and travel half way across the country at their own expense, and still go home with smiles on their faces, so well done all!
For those interested, we did 9 slots per day, every hour on the hour, with kit stock bikes, with kit motors, on basic NEC flooring (loop carpet) that was no where near racing grade, covered in fuel and oil from nitro and large scale demos, (3 slots an hour!) and the car boys were complaining about the lack of grip !!
We found the kit V5 tyres, wiped clean with motor spray, then dried and applied with LRP Tarmac additive gave us great traction and enough steering/lean angle to get round a track including the infield which was amazing!
Considering we had upto 9 bikes running at any one time, and some of the slots ran on to approach ten minutes, these little Venoms have stood upto almost a season racing in one weekend, and the total spares bill came to one rear sprocket (my fault sorry Ian) a couple of body posts and steering heads, that's it, simply amazing!
We had some real close racing too, inside, outside, side by side, great entertainment. We gave out hundreds of fliers and contact details, hope to see some new faces shortly!
Thanks to the BRCA for giving the bikes a chance to see what we could do on carpet, cheers to all the volunteer marshals that kept us on track, and many thanks to Mark Burgess (secret bike fan) who did a sterling job commentating on the bikes all weekend so we could all drive.
Thanks to CML for the loan of the demo bikes, and spares, and fliers/leaflets.
