RIT on TV News: Tigers' Winning Attitude

Bookmark and Share
WHEC-TV (Channel 10) reports on the continued success of RIT's mens hockey team and its prospects for making this year's NCAA tournament.

The RIT men's hockey team saw its 11-game winning streak snapped last weekend, but the focus is dialed right back in again. This team continues to grow and a trip to the NCAA is definitely within reach this spring.

Senior forward Brennan Sarazin juggles hockey pucks before he plays, a hockey superstition, probably, but despite stumbling last weekend against Sacred Heart, this RIT Tiger says winning habits are hard to break.

"When we first started teams didn't give us much respect we had to battle hard to get in the win column now that we are winning and more teams are respecting us."

Sarazin has been with the Tigers since making the huge jump to D-1. The hard work and overall team effort has paid off.

This is a well disciplined, aggressive team without superstars.

He adds, "It's better for our team, it makes for a better team but anyone out there can make key goals from everyone of the team."

Six players have scored at least 22 points 12 have at least 10 points.

Coach Wayne Wilson says "Everyone has a role it's a fun team to be around a fun locker room and its better than one or two people producing, it's nice to see everyone contributing."

Junior Dan Ringwald likes the pressure of being on top. He says it is nice place to be when you are such a young team.

"It comes with pressure we know everyone is gunning for us so we have to make sure we stay composed and stick to our game plan."

RIT is on the road this weekend, against Holy Cross, a key conference match-up, the Tigers intend to stay on top.

"We know we're going to have hiccups along the way and we get over those speed bumps as quickly as possible and move forward."
