A motiveless malignancy? Elvis leaves the Navy and heads for Texas where he contacts his father, whom he's never met, the pastor at a Christian community church. Pastor Dave tells Elvis to stay away and, without telling his family that Elvis is his son from a pre-conversion liaison, tells them to have nothing to do with him. But Elvis has already connected with Malerie, the pastor's 16-year old daughter. Elvis embarks on the seduction of Malerie, while Dave examines his conscience and comes to a new conclusion. Can anyone get right with the Lord? Does the Lord hear? Written by {jhailey@hotmail.com}
"The King" is about a consciousless, pedophilic, arsonist, incestuous, and serial murdering young man, named Elvis, by his deceased prostitute mother. He's seemingly alone in the world. The movie begins with his handsome happy face, excited while packing for the last time, as he's being discharged from the navy. He moves to Corpus Christi, purchases old car, obtains a job at a pizza parlor and makes himself known to the man, a pastor, his deceased mother told him was his father. Things spiral from there. The now changed and converted man who used Elvis's mother when his sexual desire demanded before he became a Christian and found religion, doesn't want Elvis in life or in the lives of his family. Elvis respects the man's wishes not to intrude upon him, but lusts for his under-age half sister, Malerie, and involves her unknowingly in an incestuous affair. She becomes pregnant and falls in love with Elvis, not realizing, that he is also her half brother. After his half brother, the son of the pastor and Malerie's brother, confronts Elvis about seeing his sister, Elvis stabs him to death and disposes of the body in a swamp. He confesses to Malerie who, instead of going to the authorities, is so blinded by the religion she's been programmed by and by the manipulation of Elvis, that she decides all he needs to do is confess his sins to God thereby "getting right with God". Ultimately, this movie is about imperfection in life and humanity, and the inability for the religious to understand that religion does not preclude us from taking responsibility for our actions. That God does not assume responsibility for our actions and that ultimate, we must accept our responsibility for our lives and the decisions we make, fully. Elvis's mother apparently died a poor prostitute. What kind of life did he have as a child growing up and being raised in the world of sex services? Malerie, was raised in presumably a positive Chrisitan environment. What made Malerie believe it was right to hide her brother's murder from her parents? What made Elvis believe it was right to kill? What made the pastor believe it was right to reject his illegitimate son? Ultimately, after the horrendous acts Elvis commits, he returns to his father and informs him, with blood soaked hands, that he's comes to "get right with God"
