It is believed that stress causes the brain to release a hormone that causes fat cells to grow in number and size. The good news is that the pathway can be blocked and may lead to a treatment for obesity.

A new blood test may tell you if you are at high risk for developing heart disease. Researchers have shown that MPO- a protein released by white blood cells, signalling inflammation- is associated with heart disease and stroke.

Add sore throats and cavities to the list of things that wine can help cure. According to Italian researchers wine is an anti-microbial agent and is effective against several strains of streptococcus. And similar to cardiac prevention, red wine is better than white.
