Tired of hearing people complain about the increasing cost of gasoline? Well, worry no more. Chris Corsello is here to tell you the good news about the price of gas. You certainly will not hear me complaining about the high price of gas in this video. In fact, quite the contrary.
Gas is headed to $7 per gallon, that is if me and the activist oil executives have anything to do with it. For them, it maximizes profits, for me it encourages the use and funding of public transportation, ride sharing, alternative means of transportation such as bicycling, keeping our air clean and the clearing away of traffic jams and rush hour traffic.
Not mentioned in this video, is the fact that I drive about 1400 miles a month, due to the business I'm in. My gas expenses are very high, and yet, I am taking a look at the bigger picture, not self interest. During college, I voluntarily went without a car for over 2 years. Until I got into the business that I am now in, I had carved out a path for myself that included very little driving. While gas prices were low, I was avoiding driving.
I have long had a qualm with America's obsession with cars and driving. Not only are cars the leading killer of young people, but it also pollutes our air and starts many Americans on the path to continuous debt. This is one of the many reasons that I admire Ralph Nader, who put the car companies on the spot in the late 60's and early 70's forcing them to include safety features in automobiles which they themselves had already developed, but refused to implement in order to "keep costs down." In the words of Ralph Nader, they were selling "style over safety."
Clearly this is an issue that I am quite passionate about, and therefore had a lot to write about it. I really appreciate those of you who take the time to read these descriptions. I know who a few of you are, but let me know in the comment section if you made it this far, as it does take some time to write these lengthy descriptions. I am thinking of posting these on my MySpace page as a blogs.
So, after all this is said and done, all my claims about the high price of gas saving the world, are undone by the statement that I believe that gas prices are artificially high, and at the moment that there is a meaningful reduction of cars on the road, the price of gas will drop again.
