Chevy Volt - American Made Electric Vehicle

Bookmark and Share
Car enthusiasts and environmentalists everywhere have been buzzing about GM's upcoming Chevy Volt, and the company finally unveiled the production model in a spectacular way. The Volt is a mostly electric powered car that can drive 40 miles on a charged battery before it uses any gas. And even when the gas kicks in, it's to generate electricity to keep the car driving an additional 300 miles. The Volt's gasoline engine is never used to drive the car... only electric power drives the Volt. Even more shocking the Volt performs like any other vehicle in its class... it has the performance of a 150 horsepower engine, a top speed of 100 MPH, and can go from 0-60 in under nine seconds. Volt owners can charge the battery pack that runs through the length of the car by plugging into a port near the driver's side mirror. If your worried about the price of electricity, GM assures buyers that it will cost less than purchasing a cup of your favorite coffee” to recharge the car. Furthermore it costs just 2 cents per mile to drive the car and it will use less electricity in a year than a refrigerator. Like the Toyota Prius, the car has an onboard central display screen that will tell drivers if the car is fully charged, how the car is using electric power, and if the gasoline engine is working. The Volt's not bad looking either, combining classic Chevy design with a few angular, futuristic touches. Who says saving the environment can't also look good? The Volt will hit dealer floors in 2010, and though GM has yet to set a sticker price, analysts are estimating it to start at 40,000. So call or head to your GM dealer NOW to get on waiting list to reserve the Chevy Bolt the first American built Hybrid vehicle. I'm Elizabeth Chambers.
