Here's the whole story in snapshots of a grand event for the artists, those responsible, and the beautiful Heckscher Park recently replanted, refurbished, and rejuvenated! The water gurgles with anticipation as those clean white ducks, and one spotted one dive deep, legs up and air paddling the air to move about scouring the bottom for forgotten bits of the old park left hidden beneath the surface reflecting clouds. There are new components like public art, new exotic grasses, baby (dead) trees, mulch and fresh dirt berms around the older wide trunked behemoths, and a fine soft turf playground for many children and their doting parents. I don't remember a flat hard sand pen for Boccee Balls Games there do you?
The 36 giant panels (16x16 feet) installed so perfectly by the Huntington Park workers is almost unbelievable! Straight and level with added planks to level each leg if necessary.

"The Embracing Our Differences will encourage the viewer to relate his or her own life experience to the images and words displayed. It is the goal of the exhibition to deepen community awareness that embracing our differences, rather than rejecting them will lead to a better world for all." www.chdhu.org/eod
Thank you Isabella Eredita Johnson for the use of your track— Sonata in E Major, Longo 23, by Domenico Scarlatti, b-Naples 1685, d-Madrid 1757; (Scarlatti wrote 600 sonata's— and this is just one of them!) Isabella performed the selection on a Steinway piano at Opera Night, August 3rd at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 270 Main Street, Northport, NY.
The gentle piano music fits perfectly with the serious concept behind each each billboard illustration that projects the trust that all Americans will heed the wisdom of those who proclaim that, indeed, people are created equal and that a share of that equity is enjoyed through tolerance, interest, and yes, forgiving of past and personal infractions.
Join the party!
To think that all of Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk counties) will be celebrating the theme of embracing our differences— every OCTOBER into the future! Artists, dancers, songsters, and musicians— so take heed!

Carry the Gift? To Northport! That's where!
CONGRATULATIONS to the Northport Arts Coalition for the successful proposal to the Village of Northport to accept the invitation from CHDHU, INC., to loan three works for installation in Cow Harbor Harbor Park! Northport artists Kate Kelly and Doris Rowe are amazed and thrilled with the installation — it's off Woodbine at the harbor! Take a look before it gets dark! YIPPEE!
Those Northport Village men were so capable and gentle with the three huge pictures joined carefully together in a big triangle. Fantastic! Thank you!
