Audi Q7 V12 TDI BMW has released a 40 second teaser video for the Concept X1 compact sport activity vehicle (SAV), which makes its debut later this week in Paris. Produced with elements of skateboarding, graffiti and hip hop beats, BMW is clearly trying to reach young urban individuals. No longer considered rebellious or anti-establishment, these sub-cultures have a firm hold on mainstream and pop-culture around the world. Sure, these types of trendy marketing tactics always make us cringe, but BMW seems to have identified the once wielding skateboarders from the turn of the millennium as potential clients. With consideration to their new position in the workforce and potential disposable income, we tend to see BMW's angle.
Back in early August we showed first spy photos of an SLR McLaren Roadster 722 prototype just outside of AMG premises in Germany, and now Mercedes has announced its world debut in Paris this week. Based on the SLR Roadster with a 722 Edition upgrade, the fabric soft top super car is limited to 150 units, and will be built in the same facilities, McLaren's Formula 1 workshops in Woking, England, as all previous SLR variants. The 722 S will be available from January 1, 2009. Power from the supercharged 5.5-litre V8 engine remains the same as its 722 Edition sibling with 650 hp/ 478 kW and clocks 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 335 km/h (208 mph). The new Mini Cabrio isn't due to hit the motor show circuit until the Detroit Auto Show in January, so presenting these first leaked press images of the model comes somewhat as a surprise. Production of the previous generation Mini Cabrio has already ended, and the first units of the new generation won't make it to the production line until March next year. Therefore, these unearthed images are likely to provide enthusiasts a welcomed fix in the meantime. The new open-top version of the Mini will feature the same 3-in-1 folding soft-top as the current model, with an integrated automatic sunroof along with a heated rear window.
